Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a lawyer for a residential purchase or sale in Ontario?

In Ontario, lawyers are required to complete key parts of most residential real estate transactions, including title searches, registration of ownership and mortgages, and handling trust funds. Retaining a lawyer also helps identify issues in the agreement and closing documents before they cause delays.

How much does a real estate closing usually cost?

Legal fees depend on the type of transaction, the property and lender requirements. Bezreh Law uses flat-fee pricing for many standard residential purchases, sales and refinances, plus HST and disbursements. A written quote is provided before work begins.

When should I make a will in Ontario?

Many people choose to make or update a will when they purchase a home, marry, have children, start a business or experience a major change in assets. A will allows you to choose executors, guardians and distribution of your estate in a way that reflects your circumstances and values.

What is included in a corporate law retainer?

Corporate services can include incorporations, amendments, extra-provincial registrations, annual resolutions, shareholder agreements and asset or share purchase transactions. The scope of work is discussed at the outset so expectations and timelines are clear.

How does an initial consultation work?

During a consultation, the firm will gather background information, discuss timelines and objectives, and outline potential next steps. In some cases, limited legal advice can be provided at that stage. Clients then decide whether to proceed with a full retainer.
